Do you believe the Senate should endorse the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme? Do you want greater investment in renewable and cleaner energy options? Let your local members of Parliament know your views.

According to a new campaigning website established by unions and environmental organisations, Australia has a chance to regain its leading edge in solar technologies which it let slip 20 years ago.

It also has a chance to “create huge jobs opportunities” and “lead in renewable energy, green building development and in smarter use of energy and resources”.

“Right now, contacting your local MP is one of the best things you can do to help create clean energy jobs in Australia and fight climate change,” the website says.

“MPs listen to their constituents – they’re there to serve you! – and in turn, people higher up (like the Prime Minister) listen to what MPs are saying.

“By sending an email to your local MP you’re making your voice heard, and letting our Government know you want Australia to be part of the clean energy boom that creates new jobs today.

“The rest of the world is moving fast on this. Unless our politicians get moving, Australia will be left behind.”
