Taking Action On Warming

IEU Members Marie Manche and Mary Marshall joined the masses in Walking Against Warming in December, showing their support for climate change action.

Marie Manche, a primary school teacher for 40 years (currently at Reddam House School, Woollahra) and IEU Member for 15 years, joined the Sydney march.

Marie said she didn’t normally attend rallies but “felt this one was very important”.

“It deals with the future of our children. It’s important that we look after our world,” Marie said.

“It’s particularly crucial for teachers to be involved, as we deal with the future of children.”

Primary teacher at Korowal School in the Blue Mountains Mary Marshall came on the march after seeing it advertised in Newsmonth.

“It’s about 40 years since I took to the streets, but I thought, if not now then when?” Mary said.

“We have to let them know we are serious about it.”

The IEU was among supporters of Walk Against Warming and thanks members for their active participation.
