Legal, Financial and Superannuation Services

Legal services scheme

Apart from actual employment matters in which members are entitled to union assistance, the IEU's solicitors offer as a benefit to IEU members, one free consultation on any legal matter not related to work, eg. conveyancing, divorce, wills. Contact the IEU office for a referral.

Superannuation - NGS

The Non-Government Schools Superannuation Fund (NGS Super) is an industry fund, for all employees in the non-government education sector in NSW and the ACT. NGS was jointly established by the IEU, the Association of Independent Schools, and the Catholic employers and is managed on behalf of members by four member-appointed Trustee Directors and four employer-appointed Trustee Directors.

NGS is available to all employees in the non-government education sector. Some employers contribute three per cent to NGS and their remaining contribution to another fund; other employers make all their contributions to NGS. Your employer will be able to tell which applies in your workplace.

NGS has provided consistently competitive returns to members with low administration charges. NGS does not pay commissions to salespeople, and only charges members what it actually costs to run the fund.

Other benefits include low cost Death/Total Permanent Disability Insurance, Income Protection insurance, retirement planning seminars, school-based member education, access to reduced cost financial planning, and access to Super Members Home Loans. Member investment choice is available.

NGS Super employs a full-time fund secretary, who is available to answer members' questions, resolve problems or visit your workplace. Just phone (02) 9232 7311

Super Members' (Member's Equity) Home Loans

A number of superannuation funds have pooled their resources to establish Super Members Home Loans.

Members of the industry funds NGS, ASSET or HESTA are eligible to apply for a Super Members Home Loan. Interest rates are consistently amongst the lowest. For information call 13 15 63. Mobile lenders are available to meet with IEU members.
