Following the Commonwealth Government's changes to the Superannuation Guarantee legislation which delays superannuation increases until 2021, and the desire to reach a consent position on the Multi Enterprise Agreements for independent schools in NSW, the AIS and the IEU have reached a consent position.

Letter: AIS Correspondence With IEU

The Union outlined on August 1 that the IEU's position that members are unhappy with the proposed increases of 2% One Off Payments of Salary ("OOPs") in 2014 and a 2% increase in 2016.
Union Seeks Better Pay Rates In Independent
Carol Matthews, the IEU's Assistant Secretary, says the Union has today (31 July) advised the Association of Independent Schools (AIS), representing approximately 200 independent schools, that the proposed rates in the multi-enterprise agreements are too low.

AIS Schools Reps Update - No Agreement As Yet
The Union is currently negotiation with the Association of Indepedent Schools (AIS) for new agreements to apply in about 200 independent schools in NSW and the ACT, to replace agreements that expire in October this year.
Letter: IEU repsonds to AIS
IEU General Secretary wrote to Deputy Executive Director of the AIS, Michael Carr to express the Union's support, but only if certain stipulations are met including the rate of pay rises and payment dates, in addtion to a raft of other details.
The Union has now met twice with the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) to discuss our pay and conditions claim for staff in independent schools, the first time on 19 May and then on 4 June. - Link
