Unions Form Mega-Alliance To Fight Funding Freeze

11th OCT 2012

IEU General Secretary John Quessy joined forces with other public sector unions in Tamworth last night to create a 'mega-alliance' against Barry O'Farrell's funding freeze.

The Northern Daily Leader reported 25 unions joined forces in Tamworth vowing to fight the NSW Government's 15,000 job cuts.

Mr Quessy told the Leader the cuts would "lower the quality of education for the children of NSW".

The immediate impact of the freeze on the Catholic and independent schools sector would be the loss of $67million from January.

Mr Quessy recently wrote to all members outlining the impact of the funding freeze.
