Support Staff Conference: Work Well

26th MAY 2015

The focus of this year's Support Staff Conference, to be held on 21 August at the Mercure Hotel, Sydney, is on mental wellbeing.

Conference participants will come away from the day equipped with practical solutions, skills and knowledge that will allow them to confidentally participate in their workplaces and communities.

As with previous IEU Support Staff Conferences the format is a keynote address, followed by small workshops of up to 25 people repeated over two sessions.

The keynote is Dan Haesler, an international keynote speaker, educator, writer and consultant. He is a former teacher from the NSW independent schools sector (and an IEU member).

He is described as engaging, thought provoking and someone who pushes the boundaries - and he will be fresh from sharing the stage with the Dalai Lama at the 2015 Happiness and its Causes Conference.

He works with a diverse range of people, schools and organisations across Australia and overseas, and writes for a variety of outlets including a regular column for Australian Teacher Magazine.  He  is a member of the Wellbeing Australia.

His presentation will address the theme in terms of the Positive Psychology approach of positive emotions, engagement, relationships, meaning and accomplishment.

Workshops include:

    •    Mindfulness  - resilience and reconnection
    •    Making work work of you
