Message to members in Catholic systemic schools - thank you

IEU Secretary John Quessy has sent a message to members in Catholic systemic schools, thanking them for their "strong voice" throughout the campaign.

15 December 2017

Dear Member

Following an overwhelming rejection of the employers’ proposed Enterprise Agreement (88% voting NO) Catholic employers appear to have begun hearing the strong voice of members.

Since the announcement of the ballot result on Tuesday morning all 11 Dioceses have agreed to process back pay for 2017 and ensure that those terminating employment are not disadvantaged. Employers have returned to the bargaining table and we met today to set a roadmap for finalising outstanding matters particularly the arbitration issue. We will continue to meet next week and in January to deal with this.

I want to thank our chapter Representatives and Chapter committees for their outstanding work during the year and all members for their ongoing support during this struggle.

Our fight is not yet over but we can see light at the end of the tunnel and will pursue that over the next six weeks.

On behalf of the IEU Officers and Executive my sincere thanks and we wish you the very best for Christmas and the New Year. Enjoy your well-earned break.

Yours sincerely
