IEUA NSW/ACT Branch President appointed to expert panel reviewing teacher registration
Christine Wilkinson, IEUA NSW/ACT Branch President and a teacher with more than 50 years' experience, has been appointed to the expert panel reviewing teacher registration requirements.
The Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL) will conduct the review to “ensure processes are nationally consistent, rigorous and focus on teacher quality”.
IEUA NSW/ACT Branch Secretary John Quessy said he was pleased AITSL was including input from such an experienced teacher.
Chris started teaching in 1966 and has spent the majority of her time at St Joseph’s Catholic College, East Gosford – where she was a founding teacher.
Initially she taught physical education, although she moved on to vocational education, geography and history some years ago.
She has also been a loyal servant of the IEU for more than 30 years, and President for the past 15 years.
Chris is passionate about the future of education and making sure young teachers stay in the profession.
“I love fighting for what I believe in and having a common goal leading to better conditions for teachers,” Chris said.
The review will be led by Federal Education Minister Simon Birmingham and conducted by AITSL, and consider how teacher registration operates and whether it can be improved to drive teacher quality.
