The Association of Independent Schools has advised the union that it does not intend to meet again with the union until November and it is unclear whether new enterprise agreements will be negotiated. The AIS also says that pay rises in 2021, if any, would be determined on a school by school discretionary basis outside the bargaining process.

The Association of Independent Schools has finalised a new Multi-Enterprise Agreement (MEA) to apply to support staff in nine NSW Christian Schools. This MEA has been negotiation with the IEU. Seven of the nine
schools are part of the Pacific Group of Schools.

The AIS has advised that bargaining for teachers and support staff in AIS schools will not commence before mid to late August. The AIS is continuing to consult with member schools concerning pay rises for 2021 and beyond.

The Union has met with the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) to discuss our claim and we have further meetings scheduled. The Union is seeking three-year agreements which would commence from 1 January 2021.

The Independent Schools NSW Teachers (Hybrid Model) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2017) was approved by the Fair Work Commission on 23 March 2017 and will commence from 30 March 2017.

The Independent Schools NSW/ACT Standards Model (Teachers) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2017 was approved by the Fair Work Commission on 22 March 2017 and will commence from 29 March 2017.

More than 40 NSW schools are re-voting on the AIS Multi-Enterprise Agreements because of a failure by the school to comply with the mandatory procedures required under the Fair Work Act.

IEU reaches agreement with AIS
Following the Commonwealth Government's changes to the Superannuation Guarantee legislation which delays superannuation increases until 2021, and the desire to reach a consent position on the Multi Enterprise Agreements for independent schools in NSW, the AIS and the IEU have reached a consent position.

Still No Agreement In Independent Schools
The Union is currently negotiating with the Association of Independent Schools (AIS) for new agreements to apply in about 200 independent schools in NSW and the ACT, to replace agreements that expire in October this year.
Letter: AIS Correspondence With IEU
Deputy Executive Director Michael Carr of the AIS sent the IEU a letter on August 14 outlining their stance on the proposal.

The Union outlined on August 1 that the IEU's position that members are unhappy with the proposed increases of 2% One Off Payments of Salary ("OOPs") in 2014 and a 2% increase in 2016.

Union Seeks Better Pay Rates In Independent Schools
Carol Matthews, the IEU's Assistant Secretary, says the Union has today (31 July) advised the Association of Independent Schools (AIS), representing approximately 200 independent schools, that the proposed rates in the multi-enterprise agreements are too low.
