AIS Schools Revote On MEA
28th NOV 2014
More than 40 NSW schools are re-voting on the AIS Multi-Enterprise Agreements because of a failure by the school to comply with the mandatory procedures required under the Fair Work Act.
The Act requires that seven clear days notice be given of the text of the proposed agreement and of the time, method and place of voting. The revote will be conducted in the first week of December.
In some cases only one agreement at a school will require a revote (often the Support and Operational Staff Agreement) but in some cases both teachers and support staff need to revote. As occurred in the earlier ballot, the Union is recommending a YES vote.
Teachers in some schools who previously voted to reject the MEA have also been included in the revote.
