The IEU represents university educated teachers employed in child care services in NSW and the ACT, including preschools, long day care centres and teachers that work in early intervention services.
The IEU has been successful in gaining improvements in pay and conditions for teachers in private and community based centres. We have also negotiated many stand-alone agreements for members employed in individual services, and other larger organisations such as KU Children's Services, Big Fat Smile, Goodstart to name a few.

Members of ECS Council are elected by ECS members in various geographical regions in NSW and the ACT. They are employed in a variety of ECS centres. The ECS Council has an advisory role to the Union, Executive and officers.

Letters have been distributed across 11 dioceses in NSW and ACT to Catholic school staff by CSO and CEO directors, blatantly attacking the Union's position and accusing it of spreading mistruths. Already several days into the vote for a new enterprise agreement, the move is a desperate attempt by CCER to sway their members to vote for the agreement, even though it puts all their working and pay conditions at risk.07 Dec 2017
As the Catholic employers' proposed EA goes to the vote today, many members have already contacted the Union informing them of their NO vote. Members recognise that their rights are in peril. They recognise that if they don't prevent this EA from passing through, then they could lose the right to arbitration forever.05 Dec 2017
IEU Catholic school staff members have expressed their concern with the electronic voting ballot for their new Enterprise Agreement, citing technical failures. The Union has sent a letter to the Australian Electoral Commission detailing the issues and requesting an urgent solution.05 Dec 2017
