The IEU represents university educated teachers employed in child care services in NSW and the ACT, including preschools, long day care centres and teachers that work in early intervention services.
The IEU has been successful in gaining improvements in pay and conditions for teachers in private and community based centres. We have also negotiated many stand-alone agreements for members employed in individual services, and other larger organisations such as KU Children's Services, Big Fat Smile, Goodstart to name a few.

Members of ECS Council are elected by ECS members in various geographical regions in NSW and the ACT. They are employed in a variety of ECS centres. The ECS Council has an advisory role to the Union, Executive and officers.

Your workplace news
Last night, Unions NSW hosted an Equal Pay Day dinner to celebrate the decades long, ongoing battle for equal pay. Over 200 supporters attended the event.14 Sep 2017
IEU Secretary John Quessy has released another video update regarding the progress of the new Enterprise Agreement for Catholic systemic schools. In the video Quessy states that "the Fair Work Commission has granted the Union's application for Protected Action Ballots" and "IEU is currently negotiating the timetable for those ballots with the Australian Electoral Commission."13 Sep 2017
Another letter has been distributed by Catholic Employers in the Lismore Diocese regarding the progress of the Enterprise Agreement.12 Sep 2017
Last night the FWC granted the IEU’s application for Protected Action Ballots in the 11 Catholic Dioceses.08 Sep 2017
