The IEU represents university educated teachers employed in child care services in NSW and the ACT, including preschools, long day care centres and teachers that work in early intervention services.
The IEU has been successful in gaining improvements in pay and conditions for teachers in private and community based centres. We have also negotiated many stand-alone agreements for members employed in individual services, and other larger organisations such as KU Children's Services, Big Fat Smile, Goodstart to name a few.

Members of ECS Council are elected by ECS members in various geographical regions in NSW and the ACT. They are employed in a variety of ECS centres. The ECS Council has an advisory role to the Union, Executive and officers.

Your workplace news
The Independent Education Union (IEU) is advising its members not to sign confidentiality agreements in relation to the administration of NAPLAN online testing.14 Aug 2017
On Friday 11 August, IEU requested members to sign a petition to be submitted to CCER to resolve outstanding issues with the proposed EA, including those surrounding arbitration.14 Aug 2017
By 2 August 2017, over 500 schools across NSW and the ACT supported the IEU motion to commence the process for protected action ballots. Given this overwhelming response, the Union applied to the Fair Work Commission for protected action ballot orders (PABOs).10 Aug 2017
IEU has urged members to sign a petition in a bid to have ten days paid family and domestic violence leave included in the National Employment Standards.08 Aug 2017
Catholic systemic teachers look set to instigate rolling strikes in September over an alleged failure by employer Catholic Commission of Employment Relations (CCER) to recognise their right to arbitration.02 Aug 2017
