  • Pre-service teachers may access free membership during your initial teacher education degree. The Union runs a range of pre-service teacher and accreditation workshops throughout the year which you may attend.
     
  • The Union also provides a range of practical professional development and union training courses which are useful throughout your career.
  • The Union also provides a range of other popular and practical conferences and training opportunities of great value and interest wherever you are in your career.
     
  • The industrial representation provided by your Union ensures you and your colleagues maintain hard-won conditions, receive regular pay-rises and continue to make gains for your profession. For any individual needs, so long as you are already a member at the time the issue arises, the Union is just a phonecall away.

  • Grants to reward school sustainability efforts

    Northern Beaches Council has established a grants program worth a total of $10,000 to support local schools to become more sustainable. The Eco Schools Grants program offers $2000 per school to partly or fully fund initiatives in the fields of bush regeneration, carbon reduction, waste reduction, water reuse and reduction as well as sustainability education.

  • Bushfire crisis - statement and resolutions of the South Coast Labour Council 29 January 2020

    The South Coast Labour Council has adopted a number of resolutions at the first General Meeting of the year in relation to the ongoing bushfire crisis and in particular the continuing humanitarian and economic crisis on the South Coast of NSW. The IEU is an affiliated union of the South Coast Labour Council, and IEU organiser Tina Smith holds the position of president of SCLC.

  • Coronavirus advice

    The outbreak of the Coronavirus in China unfolding over the last few weeks has raised concerns over its potential transmission. The NSW Government has provided advice for schools as a precautionary measure. These, or similar, measures have been adopted by many Catholic and independent schools.
