SUPERVISING ACCREDITATION AT PROFICIENT 1
Accreditation at Proficient is a mystifying and often confusing process for supervisors and early career teachers alike. This three part course cuts through the myths and rumours to the truth of what is required by NESA and how to use the process as a positive, developmental professional process that benefits everyone involved.
1 – Understanding the process, the teacher and the supervisor
Many things that people say NESA wants from accreditation aren’t quite right or are based on hearsay and fear. This first session looks at the absolute facts of what is required by unpacking the relevant Policy and will give participants ideas about how to streamline and de-escalate accreditation in their local context. An emphasis on professionalism and reduction of workloads is offered along with practical tips about identifying the needs of the teachers, mentors and supervisors as well as the importance of making Standards-based decisions.
It is highly recommended that participants attend all three sessions to gain a holistic understanding of the accreditation process.
These courses are for TAAs, principals, school executive, mentors and supervisors of accreditation only. The courses are not appropriate for early career teachers, casual teachers or those not involved in the accreditation process.
Completing Supervising Accreditation at Proficient 1 will contribute two hours of NESA registered PD addressing 6.2.2; 6.3.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
