SUPERVISING ACCREDITATION AT PROFICIENT 2
Accreditation at Proficient is a mystifying and often confusing process for supervisors and early career teachers alike. This three part course cuts through the myths and rumours to the truth of what is required by NESA and how to use the process as a positive, developmental professional process that benefits everyone involved.
3 – Best Practice Observations, Reports and Accreditation Decisions
Observations are quite often stressful for both the early career teacher and the supervisor. This course unpacks the NESA requirements and explains ways to incorporate best practice without adding unnecessarily to anyone’s workload. Constructive feedback methods are revisited and a focus on defining what is helpful and developmental versus excessive and disruptive to the early career teacher, the supervisor and the school/centre as a whole. The course will also cover what makes a professional supervisor’s report, appropriate Standards-based decision making processes for the Supervisor and TAA, and finally what it looks like to upload documentation to the NESA eTAMS portal as a teacher, supervisor, principal and TAA.
It is highly recommended that participants attend all three sessions to gain a holistic understanding of the accreditation process.
These courses are for TAAs, principals, school executive, mentors and supervisors of accreditation only. The courses are not appropriate for early career teachers, casual teachers or those not involved in the accreditation process.
Completing Supervising Accreditation at Proficient 3 will contribute two hours of NESA registered PD addressing 6.2.2; 6.3.2 and 7.2.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
