Supporting the independent education community

As a Casual Teacher you also need to be a Crisis Response Teacher. How do you survive the first 5 minutes of a lesson? You will need your magic folder of resources for when the work runs out or more critically when no work has been left for the class. You will also need to bring your behaviour management ‘A’ game to those challenging classes. This workshop will cover everything from the history of behaviour management to what to say when the ‘bush lawyer’ is trying to hook you in.  This is a generic workshop that hopefully has something for everyone.

Participants will receive a range of resources including –

  • Survival Guide for Casual Teachers
  • The Ten Commandments of Defusing Confrontation
  • 10 Essential Teacher Skills
  • 20 Strategies to Manage Challenging Behaviour

Participants are asked to bring along and share their no 1 classroom strategy when working as a casual. This can be a tip or idea or a favourite worksheet including an 'educational game or energizer'.  We will be sharing these resources during the session.

Completing Survival guide for casual teachers will contribute 2 hours of NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) Registered PD addressing 4.3.2 and 6.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.

Please email Marie-Claude Guilbault on or call 1800 467 943 or 02 8202 8900 if you are not able to use RSVP button.
