Claire Thomas is the Manager - School and Community Engagement for Jesuit Social Services in NSW. She has worked in Catholic systemic and independent schools as teacher of HSIE subjects and leader of Mission. Claire currently works with teachers, leaders and students in animating awareness and action on issues of local, national and global social concern, through the Ignite Food Store Mount Druitt. Together with Jane Stratton and Maia Gioradano, Claire is a part of the Wester’ly coalition which was formed to advocate on the issue of digital inclusion in Western Sydney. During the COVID19 lockdown, residents across Western Sydney shared the myriad of challenges that they have been experiencing in relation to accessing the digital world. Wester’ly is committed to advocating for digital and educational inclusion well beyond the COVID19 crisis and aims to see the development of long-term solutions for individuals and families experiencing chronic social and economic hardship. 


Maia Giordano is the Child Friendly Community Facilitator at Blacktown City Council. Her role is to help foster a Child Friendly community in Mt Druitt. Maia specialises in child rights, youth engagement, advocacy and sector development.

Jane Stratton is the CEO and founder of the Think+DO Tank, where she intrepidly changes the world through creative thinking with communities. In 2017 Jane established the highly successful social enterprise LOST IN BOOKS, a multilingual kids’ bookshop and creative community hub in Fairfield, South Western Sydney.

Completing 2020 IEU Women and Equity Committee - November  will contribute 30 minutes of NESA registered PD addressing 4.5.2 and 7.3.2 from the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers towards maintaining Proficient Teacher Accreditation in NSW.
