THRIVING AND SURVIVING FOR CASUAL TEACHERS

NSW IEU members participating in this course can claim 2 hours of elective PD.

The course is also accredited by TQI for teachers maintaining their accreditation in the ACT.

Teachers providing casual release support in schools are often placed in confronting classroom management situations. Understanding the science behind why young people act as they do will assist them in dealing effectively with these situations.

The “Thriving and Surviving for Casual Teachers” course will equip casual relief teachers with the behavioural science knowledge and student management strategies and skills to deal with the many challenging classroom situations in which they might find themselves as substitute teachers.

This course aims to enhance participants’ understanding of how management techniques have continually evolved to meet the needs of a changing education environment. The research basis for this course is the behavioural sciences, specifically focusing on the needs of children and adolescents.

Participants will have the opportunity to share resources and engage in discussions as to which strategies work - and why.
