PD update

Our program of Professional Development for 2017 is up and running and successfully providing both NESA registered and non registered PD to members.

During Terms 1 and 2, several online presentations about accreditation have been utilised by our members to ensure they have up to date information about the accreditation journey. The next online presentations are Monday 29 May, Tuesday 30 May, Wednesday 14 June, Tuesday 20 June and Thursday 22 June.

Email to register for any of these presentations.

We have also showcased the Safe Schools Coalition program to assist members to build inclusive schools for both staff and students. The final seminars in this series will be held on Tuesday 6 June (Ultimo) or Wednesday 7 June (Penrith).

On June 8, we will launch a new PIP: Engaging Students with a History of Trauma. It’s been especially designed for our members by a psychologist with many years of experience of working in schools and aims to assist both teachers and support staff to understand the importance of building positive relationships so children with a history trauma can work towards being successful students at school.  This first outing is in Armidale but we hope to bring it to other areas of NSW soon.

Finally, in the July school break, we will offer a day for beginning teachers who are working towards achieving accreditation at Proficient (Thursday 6 July) as well as a day for pre service teachers with information about how to find employment as a teacher and what to expect in the first years of teaching. This day, Friday 7 July, is sponsored by Teachers Mutual Bank.
