International Women's Day 2019 events and celebrations

International Women's Day is celebrated each year on 8 March.  At the international level, the 2019 theme is 'Balance for Better' but the IEUA and some other Australian unions have adopted 'More Powerful Together' which complements the ACTU's 'Change the Rules' campaign.

There will be an IEU IWD afternoon tea gathering at the Union's Parramatta office on 7 March, at 4:30pm. https://www.facebook.com/events/269084010650507/

There will also be an IEU women's forum - followed by a joint IWD dinner with Bathurst CEO - at Rydges Mount Panorama Bathurst. World champion para-cyclist and primary school teacher, Emilie Miller, will be the guest speaker and tell us the story of the journey she has already been through at the young age of 23.

Details and flyers for both of these events can be found below.

The IEU will also be participating in the Sydney IWD march on 9 March, as part of a broader Unions NSW contingent, and all members are encouraged to come along and participate.

There are also a range of opportunities for members to participate in union and community IWD events in Wollongong, the Hunter, Canberra and a range of other regional areas.

Also, this year's IEU South Coast women's forum will be held at Kiama on 21 March with guest speaker Fiona Phillips who is the ALP candidate for the very marginal Federal electorate of Gilmore.

We look forward to seeing many of you at one, or many, of these events.
