Myth that won't die

 

The view that parents can do the same job as early childhood teachers lives on and refuses to die.

 

It’s not just Senator David Leyonhjelm that equates early childhood teaching to “babysitting”. (The Project, Channel 10, January 2017)

 

Just recently on ABC’s The Drum communications consultant Parnell McGuinness said that any middle class parent could provide as good an education to their child as an early childhood teacher.

 

In response, teacher and parent Polly Dunnng points out that being in an early childhood education setting with qualified teachers provides something that parents cannot.
