Bargaining begins for new EA

Teacher, support staff, and principal members in Catholic systemic schools in NSW and ACT recently received correspondence from their employer “Notice of Representational Rights”, indicating that bargaining for a new Enterprise Agreement is about to commence.

The Union has a letter from CCER advising that they have been appointed by the 11 Catholic Dioceses as the bargaining agent. This is all part of the complex and convoluted Industrial laws under which we work.

The IEU has already provided CCER and Diocesan Directors with our claim, developed and supported by over 500 chapters across NSW and the ACT. Details of the claim are on our website  and the Union will now seek a meeting with CCER to progress it.

Our team will be led by Mark Northam and Carol Matthews who are the incoming Secretary and Deputy Secretary. Mark and Carol have been an integral part of previous bargaining teams for previous EAs.

The current Deputy (Gloria Taylor) and I are retiring from our positions at the end of this month. We have every confidence in Mark and Carol to lead the negotiations, keep members informed and produce an excellent result.

In the meantime, I ask that you talk to any non-member in your workplace and ask them to join the IEU. Benefits we negotiate at the bargaining table flow to all employees and the stronger our membership the better we can negotiate.
