International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women
25 November is International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women and is also the start of the 16 days of Action against Gender Violence supported by the ACTU and Unions NSW and ACT.
In addition to campaigning for ten days of paid family and domestic violence leave under the NES, part of the focus of the 16 days will be to get the ILO C190 ratified across the world. The ACTU played a significant role in advocating for this Convention which is aimed to counter violence and harassment in the workplace.
Attached is an ‘IEU Speaks’ on the topic from Christine Cooper in the IEU federal office.
We will continue to call to light this important issue, and strive to use our influence to win a fairer and safer world for everyone.
