Vote YES: Catholic Systemic schools principals Enterprise Agreement NewsExtra
Catholic Systemic Schools Principals Enterprise Agreement
After a prolonged campaign, union negotiations have finally concluded on the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 (the main EA). Following the conclusion of those negotiations, agreement has also been reached on the NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Principals Enterprise Agreement 2020 (the Principals EA).
Employees in all dioceses have been asked to vote on the main EA in the period from Monday
9 November – Friday 13 November and principals in all dioceses except Sydney will vote on the Principals EA at the same time (Sydney principals will be voting a little later). The IEU is urging a YES vote.
In addition to the 2.5% pay rise that has now been paid to support staff, teachers and principals with back pay to January 2020, there will be a pay rise of 2.28% from January 2021. ACT teachers (not including principals) will receive increases in line with ACT government teachers.
Dioceses have agreed to two new types of leave – natural disaster leave (five days per annum) and domestic violence leave (ten days per annum, in addition to personal/carer’s leave). These are included in the Principals EA.
Teacher and principal pay progression
The most significant improvement in the main EA in the rules applying to teacher classification is that up to twelve months of a period of parental leave will count as service in terms of salary progression. A similar provision has been agreed for principals. This change will apply to leave commencing on or after 1 January 2020.
A final word
Please ensure you cast your vote in the ballot on the Principals EA – a high turnout in the ballot assists the approval process of the EA in the Fair Work Commission and secures these benefits.
