Reform Imperatives

Both CEMA and NESA recognise the importance of ongoing, high quality evidence based

professional learning for teachers in assessment and measurement

which is linked explicitly to quality teaching and improved student outcomes.

This imperative is made more compelling with the release of the NSW Curriculum Review final report which describes assessment as a ‘powerful influence’ … on teaching and learning.

Snapshot of the Modules

The modules are delivered fully online. Teachers can therefore start and complete the modules when convenient and at their own pace.

Each consists of video presentations by Professor Jim Tognolini, downloadable Power Point presentations, formative tasks, reflective questions, reading lists and collaborative webinar opportunities.

PD Hours

Each module varies, taking between 4 and 6 hours to complete and achieve the requisite PD hours towards maintenance of accreditation.

APST stages

The modules have Interim Accreditation at the Proficient Teacher stage and will therefore be available for teachers maintaining Proficient accreditation. They are also suitable for Highly Accomplished and Lead Teachers as Elective PD.

Each module addresses Standard Descriptors in Standard 5: Assess, provide feedback and report on student learning, and across the suite, all five are addressed multiple times (5.1.2, 5.2.2, 5.3.2, 5.4.2, 5.5.2)

Also, Data Literacy modules coming Semester 2, 2021!
