Thrive by Five


The IEU is a supporter of Thrive by Five – the philanthropic Minderoo Foundation’s campaign to improve the affordability, accessibility and quality of the early learning system, including the need to address the wages and conditions of teachers and educators.


Union organisers attended the Thrive by Five National Press Club address by Minderoo Foundation head Nicola Forrest and former SA Premier Jay Weatherill in the ACT on 17 February.


In a heartfelt address Forrest spoke of the need for all children to have affordable access to high quality early childhood education and care. This would assist the 20 per cent of children who start school developmentally vulnerable and ensure a more equitable society, she said. Weatherill addressed the economic and productivity benefits of investing in early childhood education and care. To watch the address:
