Priority access to vaccines for school staff in South West Sydney

The IEU has today emailed members who work in South Western Sydney schools about priority vaccination.

Dear IEU Member

I am writing to you as a member who is currently working at a school within the three local government areas (Canterbury-Bankstown, Liverpool and Fairfield LGAs) which have been nominated for priority access to COVID-19 vaccinations for school-based staff. As you know, the IEU has been advocating for teachers and support staff in schools as essential workers to receive earlier access to vaccination in the interests of the health and welfare of the school and broader community. The union is pleased to support the recent Ministerial announcement that school-based staff in the three LGAs will now be prioritised for vaccination.

The union has been in contact with the senior leadership of Sydney Catholic Schools and with the AIS to request that schools facilitate the required paperwork or document which is required at the Vaccination Centre as proof of your workplace. Members will need to approach their school principal to obtain this document. Casual teachers should be included in this process where they have an ongoing employment relationship with a school or schools in those LGAs. The union asks that you reach out to any colleague at your workplace who may be in this situation to assist them to obtain any necessary document.

If you encounter any difficulties in obtaining any required documentation,  please contact your union Organiser on 8202 8900 during business hours for advice and assistance.
