Hear Our Voice Campaign: Historic agreement reached with Broken Bay!

8 May 2023

The IEU has reached a historic agreement with Catholic Schools Broken Bay (CSBB) over the terms of a new enterprise agreement (EA) to apply to teachers and support staff in schools and new Primary and Secondary Work Practice Agreements (WPAs). Read our latest NewsExtra for full details.

IEUA NSW/ACT Branch Secretary Mark Northam described the new agreement as a “teacher friendly and support staff friendly” document, that would put other dioceses on notice.

“Any small step that we can take to enhance the teaching profession at a time of teacher shortages is a great step forward,” Northam said.

The EA provides improved parental leave conditions, more release time, and more time for collaborative planning.

CSBB Director of Schools Danny Casey said, “We're very grateful for the hard work that's been done by all involved, particularly the responsiveness, professionalism and rigour that's been shown by the IEU.”

“We're delighted to reach this milestone today.”

Northam said the IEU will continue to focus on and progress the enterprise agreement and Work Practice Agreements in the other 10 dioceses.
