World Support Staff Day - 16 May 2023
Tuesday 16 May marks the sixth ever World Education Support Personnel (ESP) Day, as organised by Education International, of which the IEU is a member.
The IEU urges you to celebrate and to pay tribute to those who play a most vital role in education.
In the run up to World Support Staff Day, take time to appreciate the work support staff do every day.
We encourage you to team up with other IEU members, consult your Principal, and organise an action in your school or workplace to celebrate and recognise the role of support staff. You may wish to make an announcement at assembly or in a staff meeting. Some members use this as a recruiting opportunity to talk about some of the key battles the union is fighting for and alongside our support staff members.
Many members organise a morning tea or similar event. It's a chance to get together and talk about what matters in your workplace.
The more support staff members you have in your school, the stronger your voice and claim becomes.
Here's an IEU poster for you to put on your notice board. We also encourage you to download this incredible print designed by Sam Wallman and commissioned by IEU VIC/TAS.
We look forward to hearing about your celebrations and seeing your photos. We would love to share them on social media and in the next edition of Newsmonth. Please send through to newsmonth@ieu.asn.au
