Newsmonth #4 June 2026

Welcome to your fourth issue of Newsmonth for 2026.

Classroom disruption impedes learning and takes a serious toll on staff. The union is advocating for more support and resources to address behavioural issues.

Members in Catholic independent Model A schools voted in favour of union-negotiated agreements that provide pay rises and better conditions.

IEU members rallied in Sydney, Lismore and Coffs Harbour to demand the NSW government provide funding for fair pay in community preschools.

Some school employers have given incorrect advice on NCCD compliance. The IEU confirms there are no changes to evidentiary obligations for 2026.

Bookings are now open for the IEU Environment Conference at Taronga Zoo. Register today and get your students outdoors and reconnecting purposefully with nature.

The Australian Electoral Commission has declared the results of recent IEU elections. Read about your union’s structure, and see the list of members of the IEU Executive.

We encourage you to invite your colleagues to join the IEU. We are always stronger together.

Carol Matthews
IEUA NSW/ACT Branch Secretary
