    Teachers and support staff in NSW and ACT Catholic systemic schools will vote on their new NSW and ACT Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020 (the EA) in early November, most likely from Monday 9 November to Friday 13 November.

  • Literacy and numeracy writers for the NSW Curriculum Review/Reform

    NESA has invited the IEU to nominate suitable K–6 teachers with expertise in English or Mathematics to be curriculum writers for the new NSW K–6 English and Maths syllabuses. The initial focus will be on the early years of schooling, so current experience in teaching K-2 is a requirement. Members who may wish to represent the IEU in this project are invited to submit an expression of interest.

  • IEU joins more than 80 organisations to condemn One Nation NSW's Religious Discrimination Bill

    On the eve of public hearings before a NSW Parliament inquiry, leaders from prominent health bodies, LGBTIQ+ community groups, women’s organisations, disability groups, community legal centres, faith-based service providers, unions, religious institutions and other non-government organisations have come together to urge the NSW Parliament not to implement One Nation NSW’s Religious Discrimination Bill.

  • IEU letter to AIS principals and heads of school

    The IEU has written to principals and heads of schools at independent schools involved in the ongoing multi-enterprise agreement negotiations with the AIS. The letter addresses the inaccurate claims made by principals that there is no delay to bargaining and that bargaining is still on foot.

  • Position vacant: IEU organiser

    The Union is currently seeking applications for a full time Organiser to be based in our Parramatta office. A second Organiser position may also be available, based at either our Ultimo or Parramatta offices. The commencement date for the successful applicant(s) would be negotiated but preferably from the beginning of Term 1, 2021.

  • Vote YES: NSW Christian schools teaching staff MEA 2021

    The union has been in negotiations with Christian Schools Australia (CSA) and Christian Education National (CEN) concerning a proposed MEA in recent weeks. The IEU understands that schools will conduct the vote in early November. Although a small number of the union's claims have not been met, the union recommends a Yes vote to members.

  • NewsExtra: Enterprise Agreement bargaining update - independent schools

    The union was advised in September by the AIS that schools did not want to make new enterprise agreements for 2021 and that pay rises in 2021, if any, would be determined on a school-by-school discretionary basis. The AIS has suggested that IEU Reps would need to discuss with their school Principal/Head the proposed increase for staff in their school.
