Your voice in the decisions that matter
Professional engagement is how the IEU represents members in the wider education landscape. We work with peak bodies, government and regulators to ensure members’ experience shapes the decisions that affect their work.
This includes making submissions, contributing to reviews and consultations, responding to policy change, and advocating on issues such as workload, compliance and professional practice. We also provide clear, practical information so members understand what is changing and what it means for them.
Our work is grounded in what is actually happening in schools and early childhood settings—not just policy intent.
Professional engagement is how the IEU represents members in the decisions that shape education.
Your membership matters
When you are a member of the IEU, you are part of a collective voice advocating for fair, informed and professionally grounded education policy.
Members shape everything we advocate for.
How this work happens
We are regularly invited, as your union, to contribute to government inquiries, consultations with regulators and departments, and ongoing discussions with decision-makers.
At every stage, our advocacy is informed by member experience.
What this means for you
Professional engagement means your membership gives you a voice beyond your own workplace.
Your experience helps shape union advocacy. Your profession is represented in policy discussions. Your union speaks up on the issues that affect your work—and your voice contributes to shaping education policy makers across NSW and the ACT.
You may not see every meeting or submission, but this work ensures members are represented where decisions are made.
