Publication Of School Data A Risk

In a joint letter with other education unions and associations, the IEU has asked the Federal Government to provide conclusive evidence that the publication of comparative school data on the new ACARA website will assist, rather than impair, school education in Australia, and what steps the Education Minister will take to ensure that publication of simplistic league tables or other inappropriate comparisons of schools will not follow.

ACT Catholic Schools Staff Development/Planning Days 2010

ACT IEU members in Catholic systemic schools may be aware that each year as part of the Teachers and Principals (Catholic Diocesan Schools Canberra/Goulburn Archdiocese) Collective Agreement 2007-9 (clause 7.15.3), all staff will participate in five days of approved planning and staff development - four of which are to be included in stand-down time, says ACT IEU Organiser Lyn Renno.
