On Monday 19 May, the Native Title Tribunal handed down a devastating decision allowing Santos to proceed with their plans to build a gas mine in the Pilliga Forest. The Gomeroi Traditional Owners have staunchly opposed Santos’ Narrabri Gas Project.
The NSW union movement has stood by the Gomeroi in their opposition to the gas project.
Today, eleven union secretaries have signed an open letter to three federal Ministers seeking that they use their powers to intervene to stop this profit-seeking, destructive project from going ahead.
The IEU continues to stand with the Gomeroi people. The fight for the Pilliga is not over. Read open letter.
