  • News release: Pay parity for early childhood teachers is not a revolutionary concept

    Early childhood teachers in NSW are impatiently awaiting a commitment from the NSW Premier, Gladys Berejiklian, and Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning, Sarah Mitchell, to match the pay parity agreement announced today by the Victorian government. The Victorian announcement will see early childhood teachers finally paid the same rate as school teachers, the correct rate for their equivalent and often identical teaching qualifications.

  • Tutors in school - IEU writes to major non-government school employers regarding NSW government announcement

    The union has written to the heads of major non-government school employer bodies regarding the recent announcement of $300 million of funding over a 12-month period by the NSW Government for government and some non-government schools. The funding is to provide tutors for children disadvantaged because of the disruption to their schooling caused by COVID-19.

    The union has been made aware that at least 109 support staff in the Catholic Education Diocese of Wagga Wagga have been incorrectly left off the list to vote on the new Catholic Systemic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2020. The union has identified the issue, and the issue has been raised with the diocesan leadership for rectification.
