Pay scales for teachers in AIS independent schools in NSW and the ACT
The new pay tables for existing and new teachers in independent schools in NSW and the ACT are available below.
Note: Allowances (including the Accomplished Teacher allowance) are on top of the rates shown. Existing Band 3 teachers will get the new Accomplished Teacher allowance of $5203 (as of 1 February 2026) in addition to a leadership position allowance if applicable, as well as the teacher salary.
EXISTING TEACHERS
If you commenced employment before 1 January 2025 in an independent school covered by the proposed MEA, then you will be paid under the table below.

If you held a leadership or promotion position immediately prior to 1 January 2025, then your allowance will be determined under SCHEDULE 1B – Translocation Arrangements for Leadership Roles – find the table applying to your school.
NEW TEACHERS
If you commenced employment on or after 1 January 2025 in an independent school covered by the proposed MEA, your salary and allowances will be based on this table:
