Newsmonth #5 July 2025

In the face of rising incidents of bullying in schools by both students and parents, the IEU is calling for resources, training, specialist staff and sustainable working conditions in a submission to the federal government’s Anti-Bullying Rapid Review.

Our members are shocked and distressed by revelations of abuse in early childhood education and care centres. The IEU is recommending several carefully considered solutions, not quick fixes.

Members of the union’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advisory Committee reflect on what NAIDOC Week means for their school and community.

Do you have a sustainability project you’d like to bring to life? Don’t miss our annual Teachers Mutual Bank/IEU Environment Grants – applications open on 21 July.

Elsewhere, meet metro and regional reps who tell us how they’re building strong chapters.

We encourage you to share this email with your colleagues and invite them to join the IEU. We are always stronger together.

Carol Matthews
IEUA NSW/ACT Branch Secretary
