Applications due to the IEU by close of business Friday 11 September 2026
The union is calling for expressions of interest from experienced members to be recommended for NESA’s Head Teacher and Specialist Teacher Focus Groups as part of the NSW Curriculum Reform.
NESA will determine the final members of the focus groups from recommendations provided by the IEU and other stakeholders. These Focus Groups will be part of the public consultation known as the ‘Have your say’ period. This feedback will be used to inform the development of the 11–12 syllabuses.
The focus groups will consider the following draft syllabuses, which will be released for consultation in late October 2026:
- Community and Family Studies and Life Skills 11–12
- Design and Technology and Life Skills 11–12
- Food Technology and Life Skills 11–12
- Investigating Science and Life Skills 11–12
- Science Extension 11–12
- Studies of Religion and Life Skills 11–12
To avoid perceived or actual conflicts of interest, members of the Focus Groups are excluded from being:
- engaged in commercial educational activities, such as textbook writing, or commercial professional development provision related to the syllabus
- a syllabus writer or reviewer involved in the current syllabus development process
- a current member of a Sector Reference Group (SeRG)
- a full-time employee of NESA.
If you are interested in this opportunity, please complete the Member Nomination Form and return it to pd@ieu.asn.au (Attn: Sebastien) by close of business on Friday 11 September 2026.
